Met officials monitoring tropical wave

Officials of the T&T Meteorological Service are keeping a close eye on a tropical wave located approximately 2,300 km east-south-east of the Windward Islands.Tropical waves are normal atmospheric systems responsible for rainfall activity in the Caribbean. The Met Office said in a release that thundershower activity is at this time limited, prediction models indicate that further development which would bring inclement weather conditions is possible.

 

“The wave is currently some distance from our island chain but is moving westwards at approximately 40km per hour. Further possible development over the next 48 hours may see it slow somewhat,” the release said. Citizens are advised to closely follow updates concerning this tropical wave. According to the release, T&T is not under any tropical storm threat, watch or warning. However, conditions are being closely monitored and further updates will be issed as the situation warrants.
