A man jumped off the second floor of the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, in an apparent suicide attempt yesterday after learning he had contracted tuberculosis. However, he only broke his leg and several ribs, a hospital official told the T&T Guardian.
The man was taken to the emergency department of the hospital and was “acting up” before being taken to Medical Ward 4. While there, he climbed the railings around 2.30 pm and jumped, falling sideways onto the grass below.
He was picked up and again taken to the emergency department where he was being operated on when the T&T Guardian visited about an hour later. Hospital officials said his injuries were not life threatening.
