Suspended WPC Judith St Louis leaves the San Fernando Magistrates Court after appearing before a magistrate charged with beating a policeman’s wife.

A policewoman yesterday appeared in court charged with beating the wife of a policeman who is charged with murdering three friends in Barrackpore. WPC Judith St Louis, who is on suspension, appeared in the San Fernando Magistrates Court. St Louis, who was attached to the Ste Madeleine Police Station, pleaded not guilty to the charge of assaulting Derica Rivero by beating.

It is alleged that St Louis struck Rivero in front of her workplace on High Street, San Fernando, last September. Cpl Jason David laid the charge. St Louis, who has about seven years’ service, was represented by attorney Keith Beckles. Magistrate Rae Roopchan told St Louis she did not have to return to court until her matter was fixed for trial and the complainant would notify her when she has to return to court on July 29.

Rivero’s husband, Renaldo Rivero, is jointly charged with Cpl Khemraj Sahadeo, PCs Antonio Ramdhin, Roger Nicholas, Safraz Juman and Glen Singh. They are before a Princes Town magistrate charged with the murders of Abigail Johnson, Kerron “Fingers” Eccles and Alana Duncan on July 22, 2011.
