A 27-year-old Morvant man died at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital yesterday morning after two masked men stormed his Chaconia Avenue home and shot him several times. Terrance “Ochro” Carter died on arrival at the hospital and is the country’s 123 murder victim. There were 112 murders for the same period last year. Around 8.15 am Carter was at home when the men entered, shot him and ran off, police reports said.
Police were contacted and Sgts Samuels, James and Vidale, Cpl Bharath and PCs Ball and Thompson responded. They said Carter was known to be involved in criminal activity and investigators have labelled the killing as gang-related. One neighbour told the media he was at home having his morning tea when he was frightened by the gunshots. The elderly gentleman said the street was the “quietest” in the Morvant area and questioned why young men were killing out each other for nothing.
