Look out for flash flooding, landslides and thundershowers.
If it is raining heavily in your area, there's an increased chance of localised street and flash flooding, as well as landslides and landslips, according to an advisory issued Monday morning by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM).
You should also look out for flying debris caught in the wind, as strong winds in excess of 45 km/hr are also likely, the ODPM said.
"Trinidad and Tobago is not currently under any tropical storm threat, watch or warning. The TT Meteorological Services is monitoring this weather condition and will advise the ODPM if there is a drastic change," the ODPM advisory said.
Over the past few hours, both Trinidad and Tobago have been experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall due to moisture trailing a Tropical Wave which passed over the southern Caribbean region on May 25th.
People affected by inclement weather should contact their municipal corporation or call 511 for help, the ODPM advised.
The ODPM release included the following safety tips:
· After heavy rainfall, stay inside until water levels have subsided and it is safe to venture outside.
· Do not walk or drive through flood waters.
· Be cautious when walking /driving along hillsides or landslide prone areas.
