Professor of Medicine Dr Paul Teelucksingh, a laureate of the Anthony N. Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence in the field of Science and Technology in 2011, has reached out to loved ones of the late Chairman Emeritus of the ANSA McAL group, reminding them that “to live in the hearts of those left behind is not to die.”

Teelucksingh told the T&T Guardian yesterday that he was “fortunate to have received the honour of being the Laureate for Science and Technology in 2011, the same year in which he, Dr Sabga himself, was awarded this nation’s highest civilian award, the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.”

He said “like other recipients, my ANSA McAL award not only provided a monetary sum for research but lifted my spirits and efforts as a researcher and scientist.”

In his case, he said “some of those efforts are being translated, hopefully, into meaningful contributions to health service delivery.”

He was high in praise of the award system, saying “its rigour and stature is yet another of Dr. Sabga’s enduring legacies!”

Teelucksingh said Sabga was an “exemplary citizen” and joined the national community in mourning his loss. He also extended his “deepest sympathy to his loved ones, family, friends and his wider circle of business associates and employees.”
