The new Port Authority board, headed by former permanent secretary in the Finance Ministry Alison Lewis, will be sworn in today at President’s House.

Lewis is a well known former long-standing permanent secretary in Finance.

Deputy chairman Adrian Beharry is a senior lecturer at the Maritime Campus, University of T&T. He has had extensive executive management experience in port operations at the Port Authority and had worked with the Ministry of Works and Transport as sector specialist (Sea). Beharry was responsible for project planning and management oversight of the Water Taxi fast ferry project and the Port-of-Spain International Port relocation project at East Sea Lots. He also served as chairman of the Caricom Task Force to consider the feasibility of establishing a regional fast ferry service in the southern Caribbean.

The new board also includes a representative from Tobago.

Works Minister Rohan Sinanan announced board members recently after the former board resigned in the wake of the resignation of chairman Christine Sahadeo.

Yesterday, Sinanan said the new board’s first priority will be to focus on “what is in front of them - that is, the Tobago sea bridge.”

He said the board will also focus on dealing with procedures towards buying a new vessel for the longer term.
