Opposition senator Faris Al-Rawi says he will miss Lyndira Oudit in the Senate, adding she had grown into the vice-president’s role since taking up the position. “I have sincere regard and respect for Mrs Oudit,” he said. “I felt she worked extremely hard in the Parliament. She did demonstrate great commitment to her job and role as vice president.” Al-Rawi said Oudit presided over many complex pieces of legislation and budgets and did so “excellently.”

He made the comment in the wake of Oudit’s resignation from both the Senate and the United National Congress on Monday.Oudit has since joined Jack Warner’s Independent Liberal Party as a deputy political leader. Al-Rawi recalled her work in presiding over the Children’s Bill, which he said stood out in his mind because Oudit used every piece of dispute resolution humanly possible to ensure a resolution. He said recently, the Opposition bench had no complaint or run-in with her.
With her departure, he said, there were now only four original government appointees from 2010.
“I do believe she has seen the light,” he said.
For the UNC, he said, Oudit's departure represented “further evidence of their complete and total destruction and decay.”
