Production levels at Petrotrin Trinmar operations have been severely affected by protest action, the company reports. In a press release yesterday, corporate communications manager Gillian Friday said Petrotrin was informed on Monday of a stand-off between the company’s marine transport contractors and the contractors’ employees. The employees cited several issues, the main one being their current rates of remuneration.

The release stated: “While the industrial action did not directly involve company employees, this stand-off had resulted in the unavailability of marine transport to access offshore locations. “This is impacting Petrotrin’s ability to access offshore locations and hinders the ability to service marine field installations.” As a result, several installations in the South West Soldado and North Fields have been shut in, Friday said.

Petrotrin’s exploration and production (E&P) operations reportedly suffered a production loss of approximately 1,000 barrels of oil after one day of the unrest. That, the release said, had affected Petrotrin’s E&P delivery of oil and the quality of crude oil delivery to its refinery. Petrotrin said that was a critical juncture in its operations and its bottom line had been affected.

The release said Petrotrin, in an effort to resolve the situation quickly and protect its own operations, had written to all of its marine contractors about their contractual obligations to the company. Petrotrin said in the interim, measures had been put in place to ensure the continuity of supply to its customers.
