Chairman of the Siparia Regional Corporation Leo Doodnath is heading a special committee to oversee all aspects of the handing over of the new Siparia Market to the Corporation and to formulate and implement a management plan for the new facility. Doodnath, who was instrumental in the establishment of the Siparia Market Vendors Association and who has been meeting regularly with its members, has included its executive as members of the committee.
The committee is finalising the allocation of stalls to vendors. Doodnath has assured all vendors who have been operating at the old market, plus all the street vendors within a 1.5 km radius of the market, space in the new 170-stall market. Orientation sessions, briefings and site visits are also being organised with the vendors. The new Siparia Market will be opened seven days per week. A new feature of the market will be a weekly ‘Friday Night Bazaar.’
A special ‘Market Desk’ has been established at the Siparia Regional Corporation, from which all official information on the market will be disseminated.
