Some 3,000 more people will by employed under the On-the-Job Training (OJT) programme, Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, Fazal Karim, says. In a telephone interview, Karim said his ministry had allocated $20 million for the programme from the monies granted to his ministry from the $2 billion in additional funds the government recently acquired through the Finance Supplementary Appropriation Financial Year 2013 Bill.

Karim said the OJT programme already employs around 7000 people. He said the OJT programme will continue to cater to providing valuable work experience to many young people who have left educational institutes. The programme, he said, also prepares the OJTs for the world of workplace responsibilities, ethics and duties.
