Matura police have not closed their investigation into the seven-day disappearance of Princes Town mother of three Bissoondaye Geeta Seenath, who remains warded at the Sangre Grande hospital. On Tuesday, investigators visited Seenath at the hospital where they interviewed her and recorded a statement at her bedside. The 46-year-old woman, who is in stable condition, found her way out of the Toco forest on Saturday afternoon after going missing while on a hike to Rio Seco waterfalls.

Seenath, of ChapelStreet, Manahambre, Princes Town went missing last week Saturday. She went to Toco on an excursion to Salybia Beach and decided to join a group of 13 people hiking to the waterfalls, which are near the beach. While returning from the hike Seenath disappeared. She said she lost her way along the trail. A massive sea and land search was mounted  and police, army and Coast Guard personnel, as well as relatives and volunteers, combed the Matura Forest for days searching for Seenath without success.

On Saturday afternoon a weary-looking, bruised and injured Seenath emerged from the forest and sought help at the doorstep of Matura resident Jerod Wire Nelson. She said she survived by drinking river water. Many, including her 19-year-old daughter Roshnie, have hailed Seenath’s return as a miracle. Roshnie, speaking with the T&T Guardian in a telephone interview, said her mother is eating solid food and gradually making progress.
