CrimeWatch host Ian Alleyne aired disturbing footage to kick start this week, showing viewers how bandits robbed a popular doubles vendor located on the Eastern Main Road, Barataria, near the old Ritz Cinema recently. Alleyne got the footage from a nearby camera, cleaned it up and showed a clear picture of one the suspects wanted in connection with the crime. Alleyne and the CrimeWatch team will appreciate any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
The CrimeWatch host also ventured all the way to Beck’s Trace, Toco to visit amputee Doreen Moses, who is a loyal fan of the programme. While there Alleyne heard the cries of Moses, who is struggling to move in and out of her home to go for medical treatment because of the steep and hilly terrain her house is built on. She begged Alleyne for any assistance in getting a ramp for her house, since she cannot get to and from her house unless her son assist her.
Alleyne immediately called out to anyone willing to help with installing a ramp for Moses so she will be able to move about with a little more ease. Eventually, Kalco Construction promised to assist in this regard.
Another breakthrough was made on the programme as Alleyne showed the viewing public footage of a break-in at Deo’s Radiator in Charlieville, Chaguanas. Alleyne pointed out that the suspect was the same man wanted in connection with a break-in at Kala’s Roti shop and called on the public to give any information on his identity and whereabouts.
Hours after gunshots filled the air at Battoo Avenue in Marabella, Alleyne visited the scene where wrecker driver Bryan Baptiste was shot several times at his place of work, Rishi’s Wrecking Service. Alleyne later aired the horrific scene as a man approached Baptiste from behind, drew a firearm and fired several shots at him. Information is still being gathered and investigations are continuing as Baptiste, 32, is still in hospital in critical condition.
Alleyne called on the public to assist in the case if they recognise the man in the video. On a lighter note, Alleyne got back $10,000 for Anastassia Williams from a popular local designer who owed the victim money since 2010. An ecstatic Williams told the viewing public to visit Alleyne for results and performance and the two began to dance live on set to entertain the viewers.
Alleyne was even at work on the Republic Day holiday as he went to Point-a-Pierre Road where three men were several times after the attended a concert. One of the men fled the scene after the shooting. Police moved in, cordoned off the area and there was a manhunt for the shooters involving national security helicopters. Investigations are still underway.
A family of four also re-appeared on the programme to publicly thank Alleyne for helping them to get on to the relevant ministers for assistance in getting an HDC apartment. Alleyne thanked Jearlene John for her quick response in organising the apartment for the family.
In another story, Gerald Williams pleaded for assistance from Alleyne for help in getting surgery on his foot. The man stated that he had been getting a run around from officials at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt. Hope. Alleyne contacted Dr. Rodney Ramroop and Dr Andy Bhagwandass to assist the victim. A short while after, Alleyne went to Mt Hope and Williams’s family expressed their appreciation to him in helping their relative get the surgery done, adding he was the voice of the people.
