Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne ventured to Point Fortin this week to apprehend a fugitive who had evaded capture for some time. Tiba David was wanted for allegedly chopping his girlfriend Keisha Mitchell, who is currently in a safe house. David, who hid in the forest for over a month in Point Fortin, surrendered to Alleyne and Crime Watch officials after Alleyne contacted him by phone. David is now in police custody.
In another breakthrough case, Alleyne stopped at the scene where police had intercepted a vehicle near Charlieville, Chaguanas. The occupants of the car were thieves wanted by police and a large amount of underwear and optical items were found in the vehicle. Alleyne praised Central police for a job well done. However, the breakthrough was due to the Crime Watch team who first aired the footage of the thieves committing the act.
After receiving information from a reliable source, Alleyne and his team were able to pass on the information to the police and the arrests were made. The suspects have since appeared in court and were sentenced to two years’ hard labour. In another case, Alleyne again called on the public for information which could lead to the arrest of a man wanted in connection with an assault. The suspect was caught on camera, at a popular bar in Port-of-Spain, smashing a bottle into a man’s face.
Alleyne also aired video of a woman caught on camera stealing clothing at a popular boutique in Arima. Within minutes of airing the video, the Crime Watch host was able to identify the suspect, whose relatives called in and said they would bring her in. Alleyne is also searching for suspects responsible for the theft of over $175,000 in jewellery and other items, including an Apple Ipad and Samsung Tablets at Esperance Village, San Fernando. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Watch.
Masked men, meanwhile, destroyed and burned two vehicles at the owners’ residence, 123 Papaya Circular, Dyette Estate, Cunupia. Alleyne visited the home and interviewed the owner and is now hot on the trail of the suspects. Alleyne stated live on the air, “All yuh thought ya mash up the camera but I cleaned it up and I am coming for you.” The Crime Watch host also aired disturbing footage of a robbery at the High Style Bar at Kelly Village, Piarco.
Two suspects, a male and female of African descent with Rasta hairstyles, ran into the bar and then assaulted and robbed its owner of over $35,000 worth of alcohol and jewelry. The bar owner, who was tied up during the incident, contacted Crime Watch and gave his report to Alleyne who quickly arrived on the scene and recovered and cleaned up the surveillance footage. As the video was being aired, Alleyne warned the suspects to turn themselves in to the police. Investigations are continuing.

A suspect by the name of Amir was identified in connection with a robbery at Kenny’s mini mart at 81 Bejucal Road, Cunupia.
Unsolved Mysteries
A Mazda B2500 vehicle, license plate no TCB 3641, was stolen from the Trincity Mall car park on August 17, 2014, between the hours of 3 pm and 6 pm. The vehicle’s owner, Keenan Maynard, came on the set seeking Alleyne’s help.
