A passenger injured in a car crash on Sunday on the Lady Young Road, Morvant, died on her way to the hospital, her relatives told the media yesterday. Kimblee Taylor, 32, died in the emergency bus as she was being taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. She had been a front-seat passenger in the car driven by Wayne Llewellyn who died on the spot. Speaking with the media yesterday outside the Forensic Science Centre, St James, Taylor’s mother, Pamela, said she got the news of Kimblee’s death from another daughter, Candice.

Taylor said her daughter had a drinking problem but despite that she was a pleasant person. “In a way she had her ups-and-downs. She used to live in St James with my aunt and she had three sons,” Taylor said. She added her daughter was a nail technician and had halted plans to migrate to the US with her father before she died. While she was speaking with the media, Llewellyn’s widow greeted her with a hug and kiss and encouraged her to keep strong.

Asked if she felt any animosity over the accident, Taylor said that was not necessary. Llewellyn’s family did not want to be interviewed. Llewellyn was driving his Mitsubishi Lancer north along Lady Young Road around 2 pm on Sunday when he collided with a Nissan SUV. Eyewitnesses said he was attempting to overtake traffic. Officers from the Morvant Fire Station had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to take out both occupants from the mangled car.
