Crime Watch

This week, the host of CrimeWatch, Ian Alleyne, visited Makh pottery, Chandernagore, where he began investigations into the matter of an ex-employee who was terminated for stealing. The disgruntled employee returned to his former workplace and tried to burn down his former employers’ home. The suspect set fire to a truck parked in the yard and attempt to set fire to the house as well.

He quickly fled the scene but the unrelenting Alleyne found footage of the incident from a reliable source. On July 16, after Alleyne aired the footage, the authorities found the suspect and he was taken into custody.

Alleyne also ventured to east Trinidad, where he got video footage of shoplifters at Waliya’s Shoppers World in Sangre Grande. Whilst airing it and exposing the shoplifters, Alleyne wondered if the suspects were the career shoplifters Freda and Nigel, who are still on the run from the police, as the description of the shoplifters fitted their modus operandi. Alleyne is calling on the public to contact CrimeWatch with any information on the footage aired so that the suspects can be apprehended.

In the story of Daniel Johnson, whose car was stolen last week, Alleyne and his team quickly got information and made a breakthrough in the case after Johnson appeared on the show last week. Alleyne passed the information on to the authorities, who intercepted the vehicle on the highway. Johnson returned to CrimeWatch to publicly thank Alleyne for the quick and efficient results. To show his gratitude, he came bearing gifts for the entire CrimeWatch team as he was happy to recover his vehicle.

Unsolved Mystery
Kaloutie Binda Smart, Katwaroo Trace, Penal, claims that relatives burned her house down and is seeking assistance. Alleyne continues to investigate to find the perpetrators and is also helping her obtain assistance.
