A construction worker who allegedly fractured a woman’s jaw in a fight was yesterday granted $50,000 bail on the condition that he moves out of his apartment. Gerald Nelson, 33, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm arising out of an altercation with a woman on July 10. He appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the San Fernando Magistrates Court yesterday, but was not called upon to plead.
The woman lived in the same apartment building as Nelson in San Fernando, the court heard. Nelson’s attorney Chantal Paul said her client had already arranged to live with his aunt in Pleasantville. He had one case pending for grievous sexual assault, for which he is on $75,000 bail. On the condition that he lives with his aunt and has no contact with the victim, the magistrate granted him bail. The matter was adjourned to August 11.
