The body of Franklyn Ramdeen, a 47-year old mason from Chickland Road, Caparo, was found lying at the side of the road in the area early yesterday. It bore marks of violence and police suspect he was murdered, though they say he might have been the victim of an accident. Around 7 am yesterday, the Brasso police got a report about the body. District Medical Officer Dr Ramlogan visited and pronounced Ramdeen dead.
Visiting the scene were head of the Central Division Snr Supt Abraham, ASP Pardasie, Insp Teesdale and Sgt Toolaram of the Chaguanas police. Investigations are ongoing.
Ramdeen’s death came two days after businesswoman Nisha Espinoza was shot dead by bandits and robbed of some $50,000 in cash in Phoenix Park, Couva, while she was handing out salaries to staff. The results of a post mortem on her body were expected to be released yesterday afternoon.
