In an unrelated incident, quick action by Oropouche police led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of a gun after they killed a man at a La Brea bar. Police said around 6.15 pm, Marvin Campbell, 40, of Sobo Village, La Brea, was liming at the Dream Girls Bar at Vessigny Village when two men entered.
One of the men pointed a firearm at Campbell and fired, hitting him several times. The men then escaped in a gold-coloured Carolla car. Campbell was taken to the Point Fortin Area Hospital where he died while receiving attention. An all points bulletin was put out and police from the Oropouche station stopped a vehicle at Dow Village, Oropouche, and arrested the two suspects, 34 and 36 from Port-of-Spain and Morvant, and seized a 9mm Glock pistol.
Police from the South Western Division and Homicide Bureau visited the scene. Investigations are continuing enquiries. The murder toll stood at 231 up to last evening.
