CrimeWatch host Ian Alleyne once again went all out to bring the truth to the public as he ventured into the Laventille community to investigate the killing of 19-year-old Kishawn Daniel. Daniel was shot dead by police at Desperlie Crescent, Laventille, on Saturday and the situation got more volatile as residents subsequently blocked roads with burning debris in protest. Alleyne placed himself in harm’s way to uncover the truth, as the criminal element in the community opened fire at police as tensions rose in the wake of Daniel’s killing.
Police claim Daniel fired at them and they returned fire, but residents denied this, saying he had a box of food in his hand at the time and was not armed. Alleyne called for an investigation to be launched by the relevant authorities into the killing as he called for justice for all. In another case on Monday, Alleyne visited the home of Mukesh Jaglal, aka Ghost, of Charlieville, Chaguanas, who took his own life through hanging. He was only 34 years old.
But after investigating, Alleyne uncovered the truth behind Jaglal’s act. He questioned the wife of the deceased, who admitted to marital problems, including domestic violence, and infidelity. Alleyne also questioned friends and neighbours and was able to conclude that Jaglal had reached his breaking point due to the marital issues and tragically ended his life.
Breakthroughs
Daniel Wells, 17, was knocked down by a vehicle in the Manzanilla community. When the driver saw Alleyne on the scene he drove to the police station. Wells suffered a broken leg during the incident and is still awaiting surgery at Sangre Grande Hospital. Alleyne immediately had discussions with the chairman of North Western Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) and chief of staff at North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA), Dr Andy Bhagwandas, to assist Wells in getting surgery within five working days.
