Habitat for Humanity T&T (HFHTT) will undertake its first major advocacy initiative in the form of a Circle of Hope in partnership with the T&T Heart Foundation (TTHF). The Circle of Hope, sponsored in part by First Citizens, will be part of the TTHF’s 16th annual heart walk and health fair tomorrow from 2 pm to 6 pm at the Queen’s Park Savannah, opposite to TGIF. The Circle of Hope will involve at least 1,000 HFHTT supporters forming a circle to demonstrate unity of belief in Habitat’s mission to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live, a release from the organisation said.
Hope is a commonly used theme in Habitat advocacy because of its significance to Habitat’s work. HFHTT understands that building decent, affordable shelter helps to build people and in turn hope. HFHTT encourages its supporters to register with the TTHF at a cost of $50 which will afford them a T-shirt and access to a variety of testing, such as HIV, blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, glaucoma and vision. There will be over 15 NGO booths, a kids’ zone, an awareness theatre, giveaways, entertainment, Zumba and much more on offer for the enjoyment of all participants.
Habitat for Humanity T&T is a national affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat has provided housing solutions for over 300 families since its formation in 1997 and more than 4,000 people have benefited from its housing and training programmes.
