Alleyne showed video of Lall inside the mini-mart of the gas station’s Chaguanas outlet. He was then captured on video footage leaving the building in his car in the company of two men. Lall, who went by the nickname “Seriousness,” was later found dead in the back seat of his car in the vicinity of Charlieville, close to the Divali Nagar site. Alleyne is seeking answers to Lall’s killing. He says he intends to pass on the video he has to senior superintendent Johnny Abraham of the Central Division Task Force.
Also this week, relatives of five-year old Jemimah Agard appealed to the authorities to launch an investigation into the death of the child. Jemimah, who attended Sharon’s Nursery School in Woodbrook, had gone to the YMCA swimming pool with her teacher and classmates, but was found dead at the bottom of the pool after the swimming class was completed.
Her mother, Jamila Forde, was distraught and unable to speak much when Alleyne when he visited her Rose Hill, Laventille home. She, however, mustered enough energy to tell Alleyne she wants answers on how her only child died. An investigation has been launched into Jemimah’s death but Alleyne is of the view that school officials must be held accountable, since he felt carelessness was a factor in the child’s death.
Meanwhile, Alleyne is also calling for an investigation into allegations that a teacher at a school in central Trinidad beat 10-year-old Andy Beharry.
The child’s parents told Alleyne that Andy was accused of cutting the schoolbag of a fellow student. But his mother said the allegation was untrue. In tears on set, she told Alleyne that Andy was a premature baby and was very frail. She said her son is now afraid to return to school and wants the Education Minister to launch an investigation into what exactly happened and why her son was beaten. And an epileptic mother of three also came to the programme seeking assistance from the Ministry of the People in finding a place to live.
Hema Maharaj-Frasier said she was beaten by relatives and put out of her home. The woman is currently pregnant with her fourth child. She is appealing to the authorities to help her find a home and to get medical treatment.
