President Anthony Carmona is currently in Argentina on a week-long official visit, the Office of the President said yesterday. In his absence, Senate President Timothy Hamel-Smith will act. While there, Carmona will pay a courtesy call on Her Excellency Christina Fernandez de Kirchner, President of Argentina. He is also expected to visit His Grace Mario Aurelo Poli, Archbishop of Buenos Aires, who was appointed by Pope Francis as his replacement.
Kirchner will be the second high-ranking Argentine Carmona will meet since taking office in 2013. The first was His Holiness Pope Francis. Carmona will also meet with the Soca Warriors, who will be playing a friendly international game against Argentina on Wednesday.
Carmona returns home on June 7.
