Congress of the People political leader Prakash Ramadhar has called on citizens, who can bring to justice the perpetrators who mercilessly gunned down Senior Counsel Dana Seetahal, to come forward. Expressing shock and horror over the brutal slaying, Ramadhar said the nation had lost a “most committed and patriotic daughter and professional” who made a sterling contribution as an attorney, lecturer, author in law, Independent senator and commentator on all political and social issues affecting the nation.
In a press statement, he added: “No effort must be spared in bringing to justice those responsible for this most heinous crime against such a prominent citizen. Everyone who can provide any assistance to the police to bring the perpetrators to justice in the shortest possible time must do so. No such brazen murderous act, carried out with impunity, must be left unsolved.” Calling her life an inspiration to young attorneys, Ramadhar said many benefited from her guidance, as she shared her knowledge and experience generously in encouraging the highest standards in the profession.
Describing Seetahal as humble, he said she enjoyed life to the maximum and also was an ardent marathon runner and a social livewire in her chambers and in the Law Association. He said she would be remembered for, among other things, her frankness and fearlessness in presenting her views on national issues and in court matters. The COP expressed condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.
