Two friends were shot dead hours apart in Laventille between Sunday night and yesterday morning, taking the murder toll to 160. In the latest shooting 20-year-old Dexter Akino Alexander was found dead by residents of Upper Duke Street around 7 am yesterday. Residents heard gunshots and found Alexander, nicknamed “Snoop”, lying at the side of the road with wounds to the head. Speaking with the media at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, yesterday, Alexander’s sister, Alana, said the last time she saw her brother was on Friday. She said her brother was no saint and was led astray by his friends.
She said he had recently started hanging out with Kerron “Cakes” Lewis, who was killed the night before. Alexander’s autopsy revealed he had been killed with a high-powered rifle previously unseen by the pathologist and police. Parts of his head and chest were blown away by the bullet, the autopsy said. On Sunday night, Homicide officers were called out to Hamlet Street, St Barb’s, after receiving reports that Lewis’s body had been found. Lewis, who lived at Village Council Street, Laventille, was found dead around 9.30 pm after residents of St Barb’s heard gunshots.
