After five months of deferral Government is expected to answer questions about the Boxing Board when the Senate meets this afternoon at the Parliament Building, Tower D, Waterfront Complex, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain. Since December 15 last year, Opposition Senator Fitzgerald Hinds’ questions were due to be answered.

Hinds wanted Finance and the Economy Minister Larry Howai to give the names or names and professions/occupations of the members of the T&T Boxing Board of Control, the date of their appointments, and whether anyone had been appointed adviser to the board.  Hinds also wanted to know the name of the individual if appointed, his full terms and conditions of employment.

He also wants Howai to say “whether any member of the said board has ever been convicted for any criminal offence” and “whether a criminal offence disqualifies a person from holding a board position.” The answers have been deferred for five months. Howai is also expected to answer questions relating to Caribbean Airlines Ltd. Opposition Senator Lester Henry wants Howai to tell legislators what was the profit or loss of the airline for the period January to December 2012.

He also wants to know of CAL “has utilised the services of foreign pilots who did not possess the required work permits at any time over the past two years.” In another question to Howai, Henry is asking for an update on “all outstanding matters required to achieve a resolution of the Clico/CLF matter.” Leader of Opposition Business in the Upper House, Senator Pennelope Beckles, has filed a question for response by the Attorney General on the cost of the commission of enquiry into the 1990 attempted coup. Legislators will debate the Anti-Doping in Sport Bill during today’s sitting, which begins at 1.30 pm.
