National forward Triston Grant scored a timely hat-trick as four-time reigning champions of the T&T Hockey Board Men’s Championship Division, crushed Fatima 4-0 at the National Hockey Centre, Tacarigua on Sunday. Coming off a 2-0 loss to Notre Dame, 24 hours earlier, the Oilmen, with only four points from as many matches were desperate for victory.

However, they had to wait until the 30th minute before Grant’s national team-mate Wayne Legerton netted the opener and three minutes later Grant doubled the advantage for a 2-0 half-time lead.
Fatima, with a shock win over last year’s league runner-up Paragon, already this season managed to keep the Oilmen from adding to their tally until Grant got two late items in the 63rd and 66th minutes to complete the win and end a run of two straight defeats.

The Oilmen now have seven points from five matches, three behind leaders Notre Dame and two adrift of unbeaten Queen’s Park which has maximum nine points from three matches. Matches continue today at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Training Field, Bacolet, Tobago and the National Hockey Centre, Tacarigua today.
