A casualty department nurse has been suspended for two weeks with basic salary as an investigation is being conducted into how a 23-year-old woman was sent home with a dead foetus following a miscarriage last Wednesday. In a release yesterday, Chief Executive Officer of the North West Regional Health Authority Judith Baliram stated that she was suspended pending further investigation.

Last wednesday, Tahia Jordan had a miscarriage while at work at Rituals Coffee House, Maraval. She was admitted to the Port-of-Spain General where she was warded for one night. The next day Jordan, the mother of one, found the dead foetus inside a garbage bag among some of her dirty clothes. Jordan said she would be burying her son, whom she would have named Kaiden, at the earliest convenience.

The NWRHA stated that Jordan was continuing to receive counselling and the authority is committed to conducting a thorough investigation.
