Bail for schoolboy in pipe attack

The 15-year-old Preysal High School student who allegedly beat his fellow schoolmate with an iron pipe on the head appeared before a Couva Magistrate yesterday charged with malicious wounding. The teenager was granted $20,000 own bail by Couva Magistrate Rae Roopchand and ordered to return to court on April 11. The teenager, who was arrested on Thursday on the school compound, was charged with wounding 16-year-old Ajay Ramnarine, at Preysal High School, on March 13.

Ramnarine was not in court. His mother, Shirlyn Ramnarine, said she took him for an X-ray yesterday. The teenager received two wounds on his head, which required seven and eight stitches respectively.
