Leader of the People’s National Movement Dr Keith Rowley and his slate of candidates for the May 18 internal elections yesterday signed their nominations at Balisier House, Port-of-Spain. The deadline for nominations is 4 pm on Friday. Rowley’s slate has at least three changes from the incumbent executive. Diego Martin North East MP Colm Imbert is contesting the post of vice-chairman, now held by Senator Camille Robinson-Regis, who in turn will contest the position now held by Pennelope Beckles-Robinson, lady vice-chairman. Another new candidate is Port-of-Spain mayor Raymond Tim Kee, who will be seeking election as party treasurer, replacing former minister in the Ministry of Finance Mariano Browne.

And sacked opposition senator Fitzgerald Hinds is seeking election as party youth officer. General secretary Ashton Ford, who is seeking re-election, said the party will no longer have male and female youth officers but a single youth officer. Rowley is supporting Hinds for that position. Ford said all candidates were eligible to file nomination papers yesterday and the “dry run” was done to ensure that the process would be executed properly and without problems. He said one other candidate was nominated yesterday. Nal Ramsingh was nominated to contest the post of PRO as an Independent.

Rest of the Slate

The other nominees on Rowley’s slate are:
Senator Faris Al-Rawi — public relations officer (incumbent).
Anthony Garcia — education officer (incumbent).
Irene Hinds — operations officer (incumbent).
Foster Cummings — elections officer (incumbent).
Indar Parasram — field officer (incumbent).
Jocelyn Bodden — welfare officer (incumbent).
Jennifer Baptiste-Primus — labour relations officer
