A report was expected to be sent yesterday to the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) following the discovery on Wednesday of marijuana, cocaine and several rounds of ammunition in the ceiling above the male bathroom and inside a filing cabinet in the dormitory at the Fyzabad Police Station on Wednesday. During the search ceiling tiles were removed in the male bathroom and 130 rounds of ammunition of varying calibres were discovered. Also discovered were 560 grammes of marijuana and 36 grammes of cocaine.
The authority’s director Gillian Lucky yesterday said she spoke to acting Police Commissioner Stephen Williams around 4 pm and was given the assurance by that the report was “on its way” to him. Lucky said once Williams was in possession of the report a copy would then be given to her. She said she would not be able to properly comment on the matter unless she had read the report.
On what was next step Lucky said that would be decided when the PCA received the report. In a previous interview with the T&T Guardian earlier this week Lucky had expressed disappointment over Williams’s failure to inform the PCA about the discovery. She said she was concerned the PCA only heard of the report via media reports rather than the proper channels as required by law, which was contacting the authority.
