One man was shot dead while another is fighting for his life at hospital, after they were attacked by unknown gunmen on Monday evening at Bypass Road, Valencia.
Terrance “Strongy” Bacchus was shot in his head while his friend, Mervyn “cartel” Johnson, 39, was shot in the legs and stomach around 5 pm on Monday. Johnson was rushed to the Sangre Grande District Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and remained in critical condition last night.
Police reported that Bacchus and Johnson were liming at Glenwayne Alley, Bypass Road, Valencia, when two masked, armed men approached and opened fire at Bacchus and Johnson. They both ran in different directions in an attempt to escape the shooters, but were hit by more shots. The gunmen then ran into the nearby bushes and disappeared.
Police had no motive for the shooting last night.
Visiting the scene were Supt Robert Phillip, ASP Mario Robain, WSgt Alana Lopez, Cpl Joseph and officers from Homicide Region II Arouca.
District Medical Officer Dr La Borde viewed the body and ordered its removal to Sangre Grande District Hospital Mortuary.
Homicide officers from Region II are investigating.
