The Government of T&T has joined the rest of the world in condemning the horrific and cowardly terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena, United Kingdom late yesterday evening.
In a release from the Office of the Attorney General, the government said "our hearts go out to the victims of the attack, their families and loved ones."
The release said the fact that this attack targeted an event where many children and young people were expected to be and were in fact in attendance, makes the barbarism of this attack even more odious.
"We hold the solemn view that all nations must stand together in solidarity with the British people and that the global community must improve its efforts in the fight against terrorism and the financing of terrorism."
The release said T&T had, over the last nineteen months in particular, cooperated closely with the United Kingdom in the war against global terrorism and would continue to stand shoulder-toshoulder with our ally, redoubling our efforts going forward.
"Manchester has long been home to many persons of Trinidadian and Tobagonian heritage and our people share common values including the precious nature of children and respect for individual beliefs. As the people of Manchester and the United Kingdom draw on their strength as a community during this period of tragedy, they will continue to have the unwavering support of the people of Trinidad and Tobago."
