There is no word as yet from the People’s National Movement (PNM) leadership about changes to its team of senators. Two Mondays ago at a press conference, Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley said the party would review the performance of its current senators and possibly make some adjustments.
Rowley was then asked about the replacement for former senator Terrence Deyalsingh, who won the St Joseph by-election and is now the area’s MP in the House. Rowley said he valued consultation and was awaiting the return of Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate Penelope Beckles to discuss the matter with her. PNM PRO Faris Al-Rawi said yesterday Beckles is yet to return and Rowley himself is out of the country until December 1.
With Deyalsingh out of the picture and no replacement as yet, the PNM has a five-member Senate team at present.
