Children, listen to your parents, they know what is best and do not go the wrong way. That was the advice of Pearl Alexander, whose son Clint Alexander, alias “Boltee”, was shot dead by police on Friday afternoon. Alexander and two other men robbed a 95-year-old Pointe-a-Pierre man of his car, a Nissan Tiida, around 2 pm. He had just returned to his home at Christian Drive, Macaulay, Claxton Bay, from a KFC outlet at St Margaret’s Junction, near Claxton Bay.
An all-points bulletin was put out on the car and police, led by Supt Johnny Abraham, ASP Zamsheed Mohammed and Sgt Tooleram, went to the area. They spotted the stolen car in Claxton Bay and chased the thieves to Forres Park, near the south-bound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway, where the car crashed and all three bandits ran out.
One of the occupants of the car began firing at police, who returned fire, hitting him. The injured man ran out of the car and fell into a ravine. Police took him to the San Fernando Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Speaking with members of the media at the Forensic Science Centre, St james, yesterday, Alexander said her son was no saint. The mother of nine, added that she had spoken to her 31-year-old son on many occasions about the path he was walking and the friends he had.
“They will pay sooner rather than later,” she warned of those involved in illegal activities. Alexander said she was able to identify her son on Sunday after hearing a description from a police officer and confirmed her identification later that day. She added that her son was a loving man who “had bad ways.” “I always talked to him... being a mother of nine I always talked to him but as the saying goes, ‘show me your friends and I will tell you who you are,’” Alexander said.
